WHAT ARE CLEAN PERSONAL CARE + CLEAN CLEANING PRODUCTS?

A clean personal care product [ex: face wash, soap, moisturizer, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, make-up, perfume, cologne, makeup, deodorant] and a clean cleaning product [ex: dish detergent, laundry detergent, counter cleaning spray] are products formulated without certain harmful ingredients. The term is often synonymous with "non-toxic," meaning the products are made with ingredients considered safe for use.

WHY DOES IT MATTER?

Beauty and Cleaning products are products you put directly on your body and/or inhale every day and many ingredients in “unclean” products have been linked to serious health problem.

WHAT CAN WE DO?

Read every label and choose products formulated without certain harmful ingredients such as: parabens, phthalates, and sulfates, synthetic fragrances, oxybenzone and triclosan. Look for certifications like EPA Safer Choice, EWG Verified, and MADE SAFE. Use an app like EWG or Think Dirty.
