10 Guidelines to Create a Healthy Environment

Environmental health impacts our health because the quality of our air, water, food, and surrounding environment directly affects our physical and mental wellbeing, with exposure to pollutants like air pollution, contaminated water, and harmful chemicals linked to a range of health issues. Although we can’t eliminate all exposure, we can drastically reduce it and help our bodies eliminate toxins. Here is how.

1. Drink Clean Water. Check your water quality and install a filtration system.

2. Breathe Clean Air. Check your air for fumes and pollution as well as electromagnetic fields [EMFs]. EMFs from our phones, wifi, bluetooth, gaming and smart devices put stress on the body. The closer we are to these devices, and the longer we use them, the more problems occur. For instance, when a phone is being held up to our head for a long period of time, we are seeing alarming problems through the mechanism of cellular and DNA stressors. Don’t wear your phone on your body, and turn off your wifi router at night.

3. Choose foods from healthy soil + water. Buy produce free from pesticides- organic and farmer’s markets when possible. Choose fish from uncontaminated waters and poultry raised in healthy living conditions.

4. Reduce food packaging and eliminate plastic. Most food packaging contains microplastics and transports pollution to our bodies. Use glass storage containers and package-free produce and other foods when possible. Eliminate water from plastic bottles.

5. Buy clean personal care products- free of sulfate, parabens, propylene glycol, fragrances and perfumes. Products like face wash, soap, moisturizer, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, make-up, perfume, cologne, deodorant are products you put directly on your body and skin every day. There are many resource guides available which share ingredients and concerns to help you choose wisely.

6. Curate a healthy kitchen. No plastic, use glass or metal when possible, install a water filtration system, use cast iron and ceramic pots and pans.

7. Choose Cleaning Supplies Wisely- Soaps, Sprays, Detergents- same info as personal care products above.

8. Create a Healthy Home. Start with your bedroom and spend on quality bedding, pillows and a mattress free of chemicals and flame retardants. No carpets when possible! ,

9. Make sure to get sunlight and nature in to your life regularly as it impacts metabolic health and mood.

10. No natter how diligent you are, you can’t avoid all toxins so it’s important to support your body’s ability to excrete chemicals. The liver is responsible for detox. Support your liver! Eat cruciferous veggies [broccoli sprouts best] and fiber and sweat daily.
